Yukon Solitaire

Like Klondike, but with no stock and one big rule change: you can move any face-up card, with everything on it.

Click a card to send it where it fits, or drag it. Shortcuts: N new game, U undo, H hint, M sound.

How Yukon works

Yukon is a cousin of Klondike with the same goal: build the four foundations from Ace to King. The difference is how freely you can move cards.

  1. The deal. Seven columns, no stock. Hidden cards sit at the bottom of each column; the rest are face up.
  2. Build down, alternating colours. A red 6 goes on a black 7.
  3. Move any face-up card. Drag a card and everything on top of it comes too, whatever order they are in. Only the bottom card of the group has to fit where it lands.
  4. Kings in empty columns. Only a King (or a run starting with one) can fill a gap.
  5. Foundations. Ace to King in a single suit. Cards on the foundations can come back if you need them.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Yukon and Klondike?

There is no stock and all 52 cards are dealt to the table. And you can move any face-up card, together with all the cards on top of it, even when they are not in order. In Klondike you can only move correctly ordered runs.

How is Yukon laid out?

Seven columns. The first has one card, face up. Each column after that has hidden cards (one more each time) followed by five face-up cards.

Is every Yukon deal winnable?

No, though a large share are. Because you can move so many cards at once, Yukon is easier to win than it looks and rewards planning.

What can go in an empty column?

Only a King, or a run that starts with a King, as in Klondike.

Is there a score?

This version of Yukon is not scored. The leaderboard ranks by time, then by number of moves.
